Ludwigsfelde & Großbeeren jointly support the RBGC follow-up

LUDWIGSFELDE, 03.09.2013
ECONOMIC AND LOGISTICS REGION LUDWIGSFELDE & GROßBEEREN JOINTLY SUPPORT THE RBGC FOLLOW-UP

The stakeholder meeting in
Ludwigsfelde on 3rd September showed a great deal of support to the RBGC policies in location marketing and cargo shifting from road to rail. Mayors Frank Gerhard and Carl Ahlgrimm pointed out the importance of railway infrastructure for joint economic development of Ludwigsfelde & Großbeeren.

Business operators of the location presented successful examples of logistics activities in the Region i.e. Albatros trains running between the terminal Großbeeren and the German seaports Bremerhaven/Hamburg, regular train product “Warstein Express” supplying beverages for the capital region, and transport connections to a dense train network via the marshaling yard Seddin enabling freight shipment from Großbeeren to almost every destination in Europe.

Mr. Heiland, RBGC project head from IPG, summed up the project achievements including the INIS online pilot
being developed by IPG. INIS Pilot offers an overview of the access to the railway system in Brandenburg and other selected locations in Rail Baltica countries. The system enables its users to find operating companies for each operational transshipment point, information about public terminals for intermodal transport, and further information on infrastructure. Also additional information about ports and business areas is available. The INIS system goes online in the end of September.

In conclusion, Wilfried Thielicke, Business Developer of the City of Ludwigsfelde, Rüdiger Hage, Business Manager of IPG, and Carl Ahlgrimm expressed the future interest to support a following RBGC project.
