WHAT RBGC IS ABOUT?

The RBGC partnership promotes transport policies for the development of multimodal logistics and modern railway infrastructure in Eastern Baltic Sea Region. The main focus is set on improving passenger mobility and freight transportation along Rail Baltica route. Furthermore the project is organizing multilevel dialogue about transport policies of Baltic countries.

OBJECTIVES & BENEFITS

Rail Baltica Growth Corridor aims to improve the competitiveness and accessibility of Baltic cities and regions by increasing their interaction and collaboration.

RBGC creates a cooperation platform that observes the needs of transport sector and its customers in line with green growth corridor principles.

RBGC brings benefits for

  • City and regional authorities
  • Transport service providers
  • Logistics centers
  • Intermodal terminals
  • Public transport authorities
  • Universities and research centers

RBGC is linked to the TEN-T Priority Project No. 27 'Rail Baltica' – a railway that will connect the Eastern Baltic Sea Region from north to south branching from St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Tallinn, Riga, Kaunas and Warsaw to Berlin. The Region gains new economic potential as the major business hubs will be connected with North-West Russia and the EU core.

ACTIVITIES

The RBGC action consists of seven activities.

Administrative work is represented by Project management and Communication activities.

The empirical research has been provided by gathering data on public and private sector stakeholders and decision-makers in the field of transport and regional development of the project region.

The research activities support the implementation of the two pilots: Connectivity Pilot for passenger transport and Logistics Pilot for freight transport.

The knowledge gained from the project actions is used to create the Rail Baltica Growth Strategy — the policy making instrument that contributes to the economic growth of the Eastern Baltic Sea Region.
